Umut was very happy to welcome us back for our third visit to his Permaculture site in Aghia Irini or Akdeniz, in Northern Cyprus.
This was a two day event during which we had a lovely time planting over 150 trees.
Most of the trees were planted on the boundary – providing a wind-break.
We also planted a large number of trees, herbs and other plants (in the forest garden) along the swales, which are ditches that run along contour lines, thus holding moisture on the land.
Other activities included some cob work to the interior and exterior of the earth-bag dome, which is now where Umut resides.
Umut’s site is progressing nicely, and we look forward to seeing the results of this hard work next year!
